Research Focus:

Vishal Mittal joined Florida Solar Energy Center as Post Doctoral Associate in 2006. His active research areas include (i) Study and mitigation of membrane degradation in polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cells (ii) Development of PEM fuel cell components like membrane, electrode, gas diffusion layer and bipolar plate for improved power density (iii) Development and optimization of fuel cell stack operating at high temperature and low relative humidity. Prior to joining FSEC, Dr. Mittal had two years of industrial experience as research interns. The most recent being one year research internship at UTC Fuel Cells in 2004, where he studied the membrane degradation mechanism in an operating fuel cell.

Dr. Mittal is an active member of the Electrochemical Society and received the outstanding student/postdoc presentation award at the Fall 2005 meeting.
