Dr. Atmaram joined the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC) in March, 1981. He has worked on the design and analyses of photovoltaic (PV) systems, research on grid interconnection issues and the impact of distributed generation on grid stability, testing and rating photovoltaic module performance, supervision and operation of photovoltaic hardware and test equipment, and technical assessment of photovoltaic applications.
Dr. Atmaram lead the PV team through the process of obtaining laboratory accreditation from A2LA, the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation, for the performance testing of Photovoltaic modules. He also was team leader in the accreditation of the FSEC PV Laboratory by PowerMark, Inc., as an accredited photovoltaic testing laboratory.
He has acted as principal investigator and project manager for a number of projects funded by agencies including: World Bank, Electric Power Research Institute, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Sandia National Laboratories, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the Florida Energy Office, electric utilities and photovoltaic manufacturers.
Dr. Atmaram has over sixty professional publications, including more than fifty in photovoltaic research and applications. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the IEEE Photovoltaics Standards Coordinating Committee, SCC21.
