Since 1982, the Florida Solar Energy Center/University of Central Florida has operated the U.S. Department of Energy’s Photovoltaic Southeast Regional Experiment Station (SERES) under the technical guidance of Sandia National Laboratories, and in partnership with the Southwest Regional Experiment Station - SW Technology Development Institute at New Mexico State University. Over the past 20 years, the SERES has supported the national PV program objectives in a number of areas related to technology development, validation and implementation. Beginning with the evaluation of some of the first utility-interactive PV systems in the U.S., the SERES continues to support the development of products, resources, standards and information necessary to ensure continued growth and maturation of the PV industry, and in meeting cost, performance and reliability goals established by the industry and stakeholders.
