Workshop Description:

The loss of electrical power impacts emergency management and disaster relief organization operations in response to and recovery from disasters. This workshop will present and overview of the history and experiences of using photovoltaics in disasters for response, recovery and mitigation activities. The viability of various solar energy sources to satisfy energy needs will be reviewed. The benefits of solar energy for backup power for buildings as a means of establishing disaster resistant communities will be presented.
