Course Description

EnergyGauge FlaCom is Florida's Energy Code compliance software for commercial buildings. The instructors walk the students through entering data into EnergyGauge FlaCom for each required component of a building such as zones, envelop, system, plant etc. Participants learn how the current version differs from previous software versions. Participants also learn how to take advantage of advanced features such as templates and defaults to reduce time.

Muthusamy Swami has Ph.D in mechanical engineering and is FSEC's lead in simulation and application software development. He has over 22 years experience, and has worked in the areas of both residential and commercial codes in development and update. He is most familiar with all current and new commercial codes and is the developer of the new EnergyGauge Flacom 2001 which uses state-of-the-art development platform and data access technology. His related experience includes database design, and high-level programming. For several years, he has worked closely with the Florida Building Commission committees, building officials, State code departments, design professionals and compliance tool users.

Tei has been working with energy efficiency since the late 1970's. She has stayed active with energy calculations for building permits purposes and has been an energy rater since 1995. She has performed 100's of energy calculations for the builders in the Orange-Seminole County areas. She joined the Florida Solar Energy Center in March of 1998 as Program Coordinator for the Energy Gauge Program. Her duties include training raters in Class 2 and Class 3 and providing support for Energy Gauge® software. In the past year she has also become a trainer for the Department of Community Affairs, training those interested in the Energy Efficiency Code for Building Construction in both the Residential and Commercial arenas. She has also lent technical and software support for the Energy Code. She is also a Florida Certified Residential Builder inactive and a member of the Board of Directors for the Florida Housing coalition.
